Online and Traditional Chess Boards
Traditional and online chess boards are both fun to use, but online boards offer more convenience and are easier to use. Here are some of the advantages of using online chess boards.
With online boards we never have to set up anything. Once we login a ready board always appears on screen. After each game we don't have to set the board up again and again because after clicking on "new game" a fresh setup online board automatically appears—with all the white and black pieces all lined up in formation and the board is set in its proper orientation.
Orientation means we have to make sure that white squares are on the extreme upper left and lower right of the board. Otherwise, all the pieces will be placed erroneously and would confound notation procedures. With online chess boards we don't have to fuss with this. Just click and have a perfect board setup.
With online boards everything we need for notation, time limit, rule check, rating, and monitoring are taken care of by the website software. We don't have to worry about a thing. All we need to do is focus on the game.
The site features ensure that no cheating or misplay has been committed. We can leave the screen for some quick chores and come back feeling confident that no switching of pieces or any other unfair play has been done.
Pieces on traditional boards are prone to being displaced or thrown off the board with jerks or sudden movements. They are prone to being placed off the center of squares and eventually placed on the wrong squares.
With online board we don't have to worry about these things happening. Not only do pieces stick to their proper squares the site program itself ensures that all moves are legal. So with online boards there's no such thing as a piece going off the center of a square or falling off and being misplaced.
But traditional boards still have their own use in the game. It is always wise to opt to take them outdoors where the elements can do no harm to them. They remain good displays at home or in the office. We can enjoy varied collections of them.
Traditional and online chess boards are both useful today. But as far as good and competitive plays are concerned the alternative are boards online. They are well equipped in honing our skills with more tools and afford wider scope of challenges coming from around the world.
